Study: The Osaka Kansai International Art Festival is an art festival that studies the relationship between art, people, and society. With the theme of "social impact," the festival aims to revitalize the economy and visualize social issues through culture and the arts. With an eye on the Osaka-Kansai Expo, we have conducted three tests in Osaka since 2022.
It will finally be held at the same time as the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025. The venues will be located in symbolic locations in Osaka and Kansai, including the Osaka-Kansai Expo site (Yumeshima), the Osaka Culturarium Tempozan designed by ANDO Tadao, the Osaka Prefectural International Conference Center (Nakanoshima) designed by KUROKAWA Kisho, and the Nishinari-Senba area.
With participation from 158 countries and an expected total of 28.2 million visitors, the event will be an opportunity to promote culture and arts originating in Kansai to the world, and through art projects in collaboration with institutions in Germany, South Korea, the EU, and other countries, it will create a space for new dialogue and discovery on a global scale.
